How to measure for a Composite door

Door Width:  Doors are usually measured from the brickwork or plaster to plaster opening from the outside of the property, always in millimetres (mm).  Firstly, measure the width, brickwork to brickwork, or plaster to plaster in three places (top, middle and bottom), take your smallest measurements, and deduct approximately 10mm from your smallest measurement.

Door Height: Secondly, measure the height of the opening in a few different positions, but ensure you measure down to the threshold, and again deduct approximately 10mm from the smallest measurement. In the case of a step up at the front door, please exclude it. Most doors sit on a threshold, as shown below.

Measure brick to brick or plaster to plaster in 3 positions as shown above. Top middle and bottom. Take the smallest measurement and  deduct 10mm. write this measurement down as the width of your door.

Brick or (plaster) to brick/plaster or (lintel) Measure the Height in 3 positions as shown above left centre and right. Take the smallest measurement and deduct 10mm. write this down as the height of your door.

Check your opening is square. The 2 measurements should be within 5 mm. if not you will need to adjust it.

Door handle options:

Lever Lever handles: (lever handle both sides):  This handle can be opened on both sides, which means you can open the door from the outside.  Colours: Black, White, Gold, Bright Chrome, Smokey Chrome, Satin Silver

Lever Pad (lever inside, pad outside): You can not open this door from the outside, it’s more secure, however, you can also lock yourself out if you don’t have a key with you, so be careful.

Both types require the handle to be lifted in order to engage the multi-point locks. Once lifted the key can be turned to fully lock.  Colours: Black, White, Gold, Bright Chrome, Smokey Chrome, Satin Silver

1200mm Long Pull handle:  This is popular on the more contemporary doors, it fits many of our doors, but not all.  We do not advise using this handle with low thresholds, as these handles require the Heritage slam lock, which does not provide complete draft proofing on the low thresholds.  However, our agents will call you if you order a long pull bar for a door that cant use them.  Colour:  Satin Silver

600mm Curved Handle: This is popular on the more contemporary doors, it fits many of our doors, but not all.  We do not advise using this handle with low thresholds, as these handles require the Heritage slam lock, which does not provide complete draft proofing on the low thresholds.  However, our agents will call you if you order a long pull bar for a door that cant use them.  Colour:  Satin Silver

Slendertech Handle: This is popular on the more contemporary doors, it fits many of our doors, but not all.  We do not advise using this handle with low thresholds, as these handles require the Heritage slam lock, which does not provide complete draft proofing on the low thresholds.  However, our agents will call you if you order a long pull bar for a door that cant use them.  Colour:  Satin Silver

Fingerpull Escutcheon:  This is a small finger pull handle, it si used with the Heritage slam lock and as owht the others, it si not advisable to use this slam locking system with a low threshold

Some important points to remember

Measure from outside, brickwork to brickwork. (plaster to plaster)

If that is not possible, measure your existing window.

Measure in a few different positions, take your smallest size and deduct approximately 10mm.
